This article was previously published under Q250930 SYMPTOMS
When you start Windows 2000 on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Pavilion 6530 computer, the mouse pointer may not work.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if the BIOS setting for the PS/2 mouse on the HP Pavilion 6530 computer is set to Auto-Detect (the default setting). If you use Standby mode and then resume the computer, the mouse works again.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue, set the PS/2 BIOS setting to Enable instead of Auto-Detect.
