This article describes how to directly move messages from Outlook Express for Macintosh to Microsoft Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition.

Although there is no direct message migration tool for moving from Outlook Express for Macintosh to Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition, you can use a "redirect" rule. To automatically redirect messages from your Outlook Express for Macintosh Inbox to your Outlook for Macintosh, Exchange Server Edition, Inbox:
  1. In Outlook Express, click Mail Rules on the Tools menu.
  2. Click New Rule.
  3. Click All Messages on the first entry under Criteria.
  4. Click Redirect for Action 1, and then type the Exchange Mailbox e-mail address to which you wand to redirect the messages.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Open your Inbox and select all the messages.
  7. On the Message menu, point to Apply Rule, and then click the rule you just created.
This article assumes that your Exchange Server has connectivity to the Internet through the Internet Mail Service.

Although this article specifically references migrating to the Outlook client for Macintosh, the same steps apply to migrating to any client either cross-product or cross-platform. These steps are equally effective whether they are used to move data to the Macintosh Outlook client, Outlook for PC, Eudora Netscape Messenger, and so on.

If these steps are followed using a modem connection, the process may be slow. Also, if there is a large number of messages, or large attachments, you may want to do this in stages to avoid flooding the mailbox.
