SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Windows 2000 Server on a portable computer that has a Gateway XJ5560 Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) modem using the Standard PCMCIA driver, you cannot hear the modem dial or negotiate a connection. Also, the volume control is unavailable in the modem properties dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000 Server.
