OL98: GDI Handle Leaks Whenever a Message Is Sent with Animated Cursor Turned On (245604)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Outlook 98, you can choose to install "Office Sounds and Animated Cursors" components. If you do so, Outlook displays an animated icon every time you send a message. After a while, this can affect Outlook performance.

CAUSE

The construction of this icon causes a small leak of 60 Graphics Device Interface (GDI) surface objects. The objects are never freed properly.

WORKAROUND

Disable animated cursors in Outlook Options.
