SYMPTOMS

When you are using File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to connect to an FTP server (for example, connecting to ftp://username:password@FTPserver), you may notice that your user name is the FTP server name from the FTP Web page in Internet Explorer 5. When this occurs, you cannot gain access to any subfolder on the FTP server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem was corrected in Internet Explorer 5.01.
