SYMPTOMS

When you install Site Server 3.0 or Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition on a computer running Windows 2000, the following error message may occur:
Setup is not complete. If you quit the setup program now, the Microsoft Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition will not be installed.

You may run the setup for the Microsoft Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition at a later time to complete the installation.

To continue installing the Microsoft Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition, click No. To quit the setup, click Yes.
However, when you click No, the dialog box does not disappear and Setup does not continue as expected.

CAUSE

The Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition installer attempts to overwrite a protected DLL named Pid.dll.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Site Server 3.0. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

After you install Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 3, run Ss3w2k.exe prior to installing Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition on Windows 2000. Ss3w2k.exe allows Site Server to install without updating Pid.dll.

STATUS

This problem was first corrected in Site Server 3.0 Service Pack 3.
