Error "This Program Does Not Run Correctly on This Version of Windows" (243561)

SYMPTOMS

When you install Site Server 3.0 or Site Server 3.0, Commerce Edition onto a computer running Windows 2000, the following error message may occur:
setup.exe
This program does not run correctly on this version of Windows. To continue, click Run Program. To exit, click Cancel. For more information, click Details.

CAUSE

This warning is displayed every time you run the Site Server Setup program on Windows 2000, even after running Ss3w2k.exe. Site Server was developed before Windows 2000, and therefore, has no code to detect its presence.

RESOLUTION

To properly install Site Server 3.0 on Windows 2000, follow the steps outlined in the following document:

If you follow the updated installation instructions, you can safely ignore this warning message.
