SYMPTOMS

There was a problem creating the link.

You cannot create links to projects that are stored on a Web server, and you cannot insert projects from a Web server.

-or-

You cannot create links to projects that are stored on a Web server, and you cannot insert projects from a Web server.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because Microsoft Project does not allow you to insert a project, create an external predecessor/successor or create a new window with a project that is saved on a Web server.

WORKAROUND

If you want to create cross-project dependencies or insert a project, you must save the projects on your computer or on a network server, not on a Web server.

STATUS
