This article was previously published under Q242493 SUMMARY
Microsoft Office 2000 Installer (Msiexec.exe) makes hundreds of registry modifications, as well as creating new registry entries.
MORE INFORMATION
For an in-depth list of registry entries that are made during the installation of Office 2000, please see Regkey.xls file included with the Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit.
When it is called by Setup.exe, the Msiexec.exe installer uses the Msi.dll dynamic-link library (DLL) to read the Office 2000 package file, apply any transform (.mst) files, and incorporate any scripted command-line options. The installer performs all installation-related tasks, such as making registry modifications, creating shortcuts on desktops, copying files to the hard disk, and displaying dialog boxes to prompt for user installation preferences when necessary.
