Works 2000: Current Year Is Displayed in Cells Formatted As Month/Year (242405)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2000

This article was previously published under Q242405

SUMMARY

Cells or fields formatted as Month/Year in a Works spreadsheet or database automatically insert the current year when the second part of the date can also be considered a day of the month.

For example, if you type 4/30 into a cell or field, the date is displayed as 4/current year, even if the correct year is April, 1930.

MORE INFORMATION

To ensure that the correct year is displayed, remember the following rule:

If the year could also be a day of the month, type the complete year in the cell or field. For example, if you want to type April, 1930 into a cell formatted as Month/Year, type 4/1930. The date is then displayed correctly as 4/30.

NOTE: The valid date range in Works 2000 is 1/1/1900 to 6/3/2079. Any date outside of this range is treated as text.
