WD2000: Master Document Removes Subdocument When Closing Word (242372)

SYMPTOMS

A subdocument may be removed from your master document when you do the following:
  1. You include a subdocument in a master document and then save the master document.
  2. You type text in the master document or edit the subdocument.
  3. You either click Close (the X in the upper-right corner of the title bar) or click Exit on the File menu to quit Word, and you save your changes.
  4. You then reopen the master document.

    The subdocument is removed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, save your changes to the master document and close the file before you quit Microsoft Word.
