XL: Worksheet May Not Recalculate Completely When You Repeatedly Press F9 (242237)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Excel 2000
- Microsoft Excel 2002
This article was previously published under Q242237 SYMPTOMS
When you press F9 to recalculate your worksheet, the formulas in your worksheet may appear to calculate incorrect values.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when you repeatedly press, or hold down F9 to recalculate your worksheet. By design, Microsoft Excel halts the recalculation of your worksheet when you press a key on your keyboard. Under normal circumstances, you may never notice this behavior. However, this behavior may appear to be a problem when you are using circular references in your worksheet.
NOTE: Pressing the CTRL, SHIFT, or PRINT SCREEN keys does not halt calculation.
WORKAROUND
To prevent this problem, press F9 and do not press a key on your keyboard until Excel has completely recalculated your worksheet.
