Works 2000: How to Save and Recover Works Backup Files (242148)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Works 2000
- Microsoft Works Suite 2000
This article was previously published under Q242148 SUMMARY
When you save a database or spreadsheet file in Microsoft Works 2000, you can configure Works to back up the file automatically every time you save the original file. Works 2000 always saves the backup file to the same folder as the original file, and you cannot configure Works 2000 to save the backup file to any other folder or disk.
A Works 2000 backup file uses a file name extension that is different from the original file, yet it retains the same file name as the original. The following table lists the file name extensions used by standard database and spreadsheet files in Works 2000 and those used by their backup files:
|
Spreadsheet | .Wks | .Bks | Database | .Wdb | .Bdb | NOTE: You are not able to configure the word processor in Works 2000 to back up an original document automatically. A workaround is provided in the "More Information" section of this article.
