OL2000: Some Contact Fields Lost Using Signature with vCard Attachment (242061)

SYMPTOMS

If you attach a vCard to your Autosignature using the "New vCard from Contact" feature, about 40 fields carried in the contact record are not carried in the attached vCard record.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

To pick up an additional 10 fields from the contact record, export the contact to a vCard file and copy the vCard file into the Autosignature using the Advanced Edit feature.

To Add an Exported vCard to an Autosignature

NOTE: You must not be using Microsoft Word to edit your e-mail messages for the Signature Picker to be available.
  1. Open the contact record you wish to use as a vCard in your signature.
  2. On the File menu, click Export to vCard file, save the file to your desktop, and close the contact.
  3. Right-click the vCard, and click Copy on the shortcut menu.
  4. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  5. On the Mail Format tab, click Signature Picker.
  6. Click New, assign a unique name to your new signature, and click Next.
  7. Click Advanced Edit and Yes, to start an external editor.
  8. Type the desired signature information, and on the Edit menu, click Paste, to insert the vCard file and close the external editor.
  9. Click OK and OK.

To Add a vCard to an Autosignature with New vCard From Contact

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, click Signature Picker.
  3. Click New, assign a unique name to your new signature, and click Next.
  4. Type the desired signature information and then click New vCard from Contact.
  5. Select the desired contact and click OK.
  6. Click Finish, OK, and OK.
