Event Viewer Does Not Sort Logs (241781)

Event Viewer does not sort the various logs (such as the Application log, Security log, and System log) by any criteria.

If you start Event Viewer and click Event Viewer (Local), the logs are listed in the right pane. This pane has four columns: Name, Type, Description, and Size. If you click one of these column headings, an arrow appears, indicating that the contents of the pane are being sorted by that column. However, the logs are not actually sorted.
Note that you can sort the contents of the individual logs, just not the list of logs itself.
