XADM: Removed Exchange Server Computer Still Exists in Directory Service (241622)

SYMPTOMS

When you remove the initial Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5 Enterprise Edition computer from a site within a mixed Exchange organization (Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000 Server), the server may remain in the directory service of all local and remote sites in that organization after you run the Site Replication Service.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Currently, the directory service in Exchange Server 5.5 and Exchange 2000 Server do not update to show the removal of the initial Exchange Server 5.5 computer that was installed in an organization. This is the case even when Connection Agreements, connectors, and site replication are correctly configured.
