The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q241173 SYMPTOMS
When you select a different default language, and then type text in any new text frames, slides, or presentations, Microsoft PowerPoint still checks the spelling using your original language settings.
For example, when you do the following, the text is marked as misspelled by PowerPoint:
- On the Tools menu, click Language.
- Click the language that you want to be the new default language, and then click Default.
- Click Yes.
- Create a new slide and type some words from the new default language.
Also, if you check the language setting for this new text, you find that it has reverted back to the original language setting.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when your keyboard language setting is different from the language that you selected in PowerPoint. The keyboard setting takes precedence over any other language setting in PowerPoint.
RESOLUTION
To change the default language in PowerPoint, you must install the appropriate keyboard language support files.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
