FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions Edit Permissions Do Not Work Correctly on Subwebs (240175)
The information in this article applies to:
- FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions from Microsoft
This article was previously published under Q240175 SYMPTOMS
When you upgrade to the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions, it is no longer possible to reduce an account or groups permissions on a subweb. It is possible to increase the account or groups permissions, but not decrease the account or permissions. For example, an author can be given Administrative permission, but not Browse permission.
The Permissions dialog box shows that the user's permissions have changed. However, when the dialog box is closed and then reopened, the permissions return to the higher level of permissions.
WORKAROUND
Remove the user or group, and then add them back with the correct permissions.
