SUMMARY

Works 6 Setup and Works Suite 2001 Setup automatically remove Works 2000 or Microsoft Works version 4.x.

Works 2000 Setup automatically removes Works version 4.x.

You may encounter problems in Works 2000, Works Suite 2001, or Works 6 if an earlier version of Works is also installed on the computer.

When you install Works 2000, Setup automatically removes Microsoft Works version 4.x. However, if you installed Works version 4.x to a folder other than the default folder, Works 2000 Setup may not be able to remove the earlier version.

NOTE: When Works 2000 Setup removes earlier versions of Microsoft Works, none of your Works documents are removed.

If you installed Works version 4.x to a folder other than the default folder and Works 2000 Setup is unable to remove the program, use the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel to remove Works version 4.x. To do this:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  3. In the list of installed programs, click Microsoft Works 4.x, and than click Add/Remove.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to finish removing Works version 4.x.
If Microsoft Works 3.x or earlier is installed on your computer, Works 2000 Setup may not remove the earlier version. Run the installation program for the earlier version of Works to remove the program before you install Works 2000.
