XIMS: Chat Sysop Logon with Incorrect Rights (239663)

SYMPTOMS

When an administrator who is designated as a Chat Sysop logs on to the Chat service and uses a password containing a space (for example, "pass word"), the Chat server does not identify the password correctly. Therefore, the Sysop is logged on to the server as a standard chat user instead of an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) operator.

RESOLUTION

Do not use a password with a space.

MORE INFORMATION

Earlier versions of the Chat Service do not support the use of blank spaces in a password. Therefore, Microsoft will continue to enforce that behavior in this version of the Chat Service.
