In addition to the templates that Vizact provides, you can build custom templates to meet specific project needs. Custom templates allow you to easily create consistently designed documents.

Creating a Custom Template

1. Start Vizact.
2. Format a page and include everything that you want the template to display.
3. On the File menu, click Save As.
4. Browse to the Templates folder. By default, this folder is located at:

   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Vizact\Templates

5. Name your template, and then click Save on the File menu.NOTE: Vizact uses the file name without the .htm extension as the template name.

Using a Template

1. Start Vizact.
2. On the File menu, click New.
3. Click the Templates tab.
4. Click your template in the list, and then click OK. Note that the new page that is created is based on your template.

Adding Tabs to the New Dialog Box

Any new folders that you create in your Templates folder become additional tabs in the New dialog box. This allows you to create custom tabs in the dialog box to better separate and work with templates. Vizact recognizes any files with an .htm or .html extension in that folder and displays them in the New dialog box. To add a new folder, follow these steps:

1. Select the document that you want to put on a new tab, and then click Save As on the File menu.
2. In the Save in box, browse to your Templates folder.
3. On the Save as dialog box toolbar, click the New Folder button.
4. For the new folder name, type the name that you want to appear on the tab. For example, type My Templates.
5. Press ENTER to finish naming the folder
6. Double-click the folder to open it.
7. Save the template to this folder. When you open the New dialog box, note that the dialog box has a tab with the folder name that you selected. Click the tab and select your template.

Changing the Location Where Vizact Stores Templates

By default, Vizact templates are stored at: If you want to change this location, follow these steps:

1. Start Vizact.
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.
3. Click the File Locations tab.
4. Click Modify.
5. Browse to the location that you want to use.
6. Click OK twice.
