SYMPTOMS

When you create a Works 2000 Word Processor document and you place a border around text in a header or footer, the border is incomplete. The left and right sides of the border are missing.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the border formatting for a paragraph does not work as expected inside of a header or a footer.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.

To view the header and footer in a Works 2000 Word Processor document, click Header and Footer on the View menu.

To place a border around text in a Works 2000 Word Processor document, follow these steps:
  1. Select the text that you want to place a border around.
  2. On the Format menu, click Borders and Shading.
  3. In the Apply to box, click Paragraph.
  4. Under Borders, select the border style you want in the Line Style box.
  5. Select the border color you want in the Line Color box.
  6. Click the Outline box, to create a four-sided border, or click any line segment to create a partial border.
  7. Click OK.
