Works 2000: Checkerboard Border Is Printed As Solid Line (239295)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000

This article was previously published under Q239295

SYMPTOMS

When you create a Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor document and you then format a border around some text, if you use the checkerboard border (third from the bottom of the Line Style list), the border appears checkered in Print Preview, but it is printed as a solid line.

CAUSE

The behavior can occur because the checkered pattern is too fine for most printers to resolve.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, print to a printer with at least 1200 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution, on very high quality paper.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Works 2000.
