Works 2000: Bitmap Is Not Inserted Properly into Document (239287)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to insert a bitmap file (.bmp) into a Microsoft Works 2000 Word Processor document, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
  • An empty black image with sizing handles appears.
  • The object appears, but is not drawn properly. The object is scrolled within its image area so that the right and left edges of the image are next to each other in the center of the image area.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use either of the following two methods to insert an object from a file:

Method 1

  1. On the Insert menu in the Works document, click Picture, and then click From File.
  2. In the Insert Picture dialog box, select the bitmap file, and then click Open.

Method 2

  1. On the Insert menu in your Works document, click Object.
  2. In the Insert Picture dialog box, click Create from File.
  3. Browse to select the bitmap file, and then click Open in the Browse dialog box.
  4. in the Insert Picture dialog box, click OK.

This behavior is usually related to one or more of the following factors:
  • Amount of random access memory (RAM)
  • The size of the bitmap file
  • The type of video adapter
  • The amount of memory on the video adapter
