Works 2000: Error Message Stretches Across Entire Screen When You Import Excel Worksheet (239165)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Works 2000
  • Microsoft Works Suite 2000

This article was previously published under Q239165

SYMPTOMS

When you import an Excel worksheet into the Microsoft Works 2000 Spreadsheet, and the Excel worksheet has a cell that contains a very long name, you may receive the following error message:
Name xxxx could not be translated. Continue displaying errors?

The name was either too long or in a format not supported by Works. The last value of the name will be used.
The error message is not placed in the center of the spreadsheet window, and you are unable to read most of the message.

The error message is stretched across the entire screen and you are unable to see the options of Yes, No, or Cancel.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because all characters in the long name are displayed on one line instead of wrapping to stay within the window.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, move the error message with a drag-and-drop operation until you can use the Yes, No, and Cancel options.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
