Works 2000: Intellimouse Scroll-Up Does Not Work (239138)

When you attempt to use the scroll wheel on a mouse in Microsoft Works 2000, you may be able to scroll down but not scroll up, or the scroll wheel may appear to do nothing.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur when one or more of the following conditions are true:
- You have too many programs running at the same time.
-or- - You have several documents open as panes instead of as minimized buttons on the Microsoft Windows taskbar.
-or- - Your available system resources are low.
NOTE: This behavior is typically intermittent, and can occur for no apparent reason.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, use one of the following methods, in the given order.
Method 1
Minimize one or more of the documents and/or programs.
Method 2
Close one or more of the documents and/or programs.
Method 3
Quit and restart the program that you want to use the scroll wheel with.
Method 4
Perform a power-on restart of Windows.
Method 5
Shut down and then restart the computer.
Method 6
Consult the manufacturer of your mouse to determine if an updated mouse driver is available.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works 2000.
