SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to close the Start menu by pressing the Windows Logo key, the Start menu may not close.

CAUSE

This issue may occur if you have opened the Start menu by pressing CTRL+ESC, and then closed it by pressing ESC.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, restart your computer.

WORKAROUND

To manually close the Start menu without restarting your computer, press ESC, or click the Start button.

The Microsoft Windows logo key can be used to open and close the Start menu in Windows. However, this functionality can be affected if you open the Start menu by pressing the CTRL+ESC keys and then close it with the ESC key. After you open and close the Start menu in this manner, pressing the Microsoft Windows logo key does not close the Start menu. This functionality is restored after restarting Windows.
