FIX: Distribution Agent Fails with 'Incorrect Syntax' for Updating Subscribers (238658)

SYMPTOMS

Subscribing to an article that was defined to allow Immediate Updating Subscribers where the column name is a Delimited Identifier and the data type is Text, nText or Image, causes the Distribution agent to fail with the 'Incorrect syntax near...' error while applying the snapshot at the subscriber.

NOTE: If a column name conforms to the rules for Identifiers this problem does not occur.

CAUSE

The column name is not delimited correctly during creation of the sync triggers.

WORKAROUND

Rename the column to conform to the rules for Identifiers as stated in the SQL Server Books Online.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in SQL Server 7.0. This problem has been corrected in U.S. Service Pack 2 for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
