Recovery Console Map Command May Be Missing Drive Letters (238629)

When you are using the Recovery Console tool, you can use the map command to determine which drive letters correspond to which physical hard disks and partitions. If there are dynamic disks in the system, some of the partition information may be incorrect, missing, or misleading.
CAUSE
The map command works much like Text-mode Setup and the Diskpart tool in that it lists only partitions that have valid partition entries. These tools may list the partition entries for dynamic disks, but these entries often encompass more than a single partition or the entire disk.
RESOLUTION
Knowledge of how the disks are partitioned and their drive letters in the Disk Management snap-in is required before you can accurately interpret the data displayed by Text-mode Setup, Diskpart, or the Recovery Console map command.
