XCLN: Inbox Rule to Move Message from the Server Store to a .pst File Copies the Message Instead (238543)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
This article was previously published under Q238543 SYMPTOMS
You may notice that the same messages appear in both a personal folder and the Inbox when you use Microsoft Exchange Client 4.0 or 5.0 to access an Exchange 2000 server.
CAUSE
Messages are being copied rather than moved from the server to a personal folder.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem when you run Microsoft Exchange Client 4.0 and 5.0 to access Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server.
MORE INFORMATION
Users log on to the mailbox using the Exchange Client and create a client-side rule to move messages to their personal folders. The user then logs off and logs back on to the mailbox using Microsoft Outlook. When the user receives a message and the rule is run, a copy action is taken instead of the move action.
