SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use the Microsoft Word Web Pages feature, you may receive the following error message:

Winword caused a general protection fault in module atir3.drv at 0008:00002a39

To use the Word Web Pages feature, click New on the File menu, click the Web Pages tab, and then click the Web Page Wizard icon.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the video display card on your computer is an ATI 3D Rage Pro.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, either install a video display card other than an ATI 3D Rage Pro, or obtain an updated video driver for your ATI 3D Rage Pro.
