Encarta World English Dictionary 2000: Pronunciations Are Not Played or You Receive Error Message (238040)

If you attempt to play a pronunciation in Microsoft Encarta World English
Dictionary 2000, the pronunciation may not be played. In addition, you may
receive the following error message:
An invalid media type was specified.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if either of the following conditions is true:
- The Msgsm32.acm file is missing or damaged.
- The Microsoft GSM 6.10 Audio Codec is not installed on your
computer.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then
click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click the Windows Setup tab.
- In the list of components, click Multimedia, and then
click Details.
NOTE: Do not click the Multimedia check box. - Click to select the Audio Compression check box, and
then click OK.
- Click Have Disk.
- In the Copy manufacturer's files from box,
click your CD-ROM drive.
- Insert the Microsoft Windows CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive,
and then click OK.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to install the audio
compression components.
- Close Control Panel.
