SUMMARY

This article identifies each management information base (MIB) that is included in Windows 2000.

MORE INFORMATION

If you use Windows 2000 in a Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) environment, and you want to enable Windows 2000 to be an SNMP agent, you must first install the SNMP service as well as any services that are required for a MIB.

When you have installed the SNMP service, you can issue SNMP queries to Windows 2000 Server from a management server. A management server is able to issue these requests by using precompiled MIBs that come with the operating system.

Currently, the following MIBs are shipped in Windows 2000:
  • Admission Control Service (QOS ACS) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a Request for Comment (RFC).
  • RADIUS-ACC-Server-MIB - Objects that are documented in RFC 213.9.
  • RADIUS-AUTH-Server-MIB - Objects that are documented in RFC 2138.
  • Microsoft Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Server MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Microsoft File Transfer Protocol (FTP) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • HOST MIB - Objects that are documented in RFC 1514.
  • Microsoft Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • IGMPv2 MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Internet Protocol (IP) Forwarding Table MIB - Objects that are documented in RFC 1354 and RFC 2096.
  • Local area network (LAN) Manager MIB-II - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • IP Multicast Routing MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Internet MIB II - Objects that are documented in RFC 1213.
  • Microsoft Internetwork Package Exchange (IPX) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Microsoft IPX Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Service Advertising Protocol (SAP) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Novell IPX MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Microsoft BOOTP for Internet Protocol MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Microsoft IP RIPv2 MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Nortel Networks Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Microsoft Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) MIB - Objects that are not defined by a RFC.
  • Simple Management Information MIB - Objects that are defined by RFC 1155 to RFC 1904.
At the moment, the preceding list contains the only MIBs that ship with Microsoft Windows 2000. The creation of other MIBs by means of the Performance Monitor MIB Builder tool (Perf2mib) is not supported.
