SUMMARY
Microsoft Office installs, by default, the Microsoft Office 2000 File Optimizer. The purpose of the File Optimizer is to organize files that Office uses on your hard disk in a way that reduces the time required to start Office programs. The File Optimizer is designed to run automatically any time that it determines that your Office files are arranged in a less than optimal way.
When the File Optimizer runs, you have the option of canceling the optimization, as well as the option of preventing it from running again.
The "More Information" section of this article contains the steps you can take to prevent the Microsoft Office 2000 File Optimizer from running.
