FIX: Shared Socket Does Not Work over AF_APPLETALK (236803)

SYMPTOMS

When using a shared socket (WSADuplicateSocket or WSASocket) over AF_APPLETALK on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, the WSADuplicateSocket function returns successfully; however, the WSASocket function fails and returns the error code WSAEINVAL (10022).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem has been fixed on Microsoft Windows 2000.
