VIZACT: Unable to Set Border Color on Excel Files (236644)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Vizact 2000

This article was previously published under Q236644

SYMPTOMS

Even after you have edited and saved Excel HTML pages in Vizact, you cannot modify some table properties, such as cell color, in Vizact.

CAUSE

When you originally saved the page in Excel, you specified for no border to exist. This caused Excel to place style information in the HTML page that specifies no borders. In Vizact, you will not be able to see changes with some settings such as cell border color if the page has this setting.

MORE INFORMATION

Excel files exhibit this behavior only if they have the top, left, right, and bottom borders explicitly set to zero (0). Therefore, it is best to start with the original file in Excel, to set a top, left, right, and bottom border for the table, to save the page, and then to open and edit it in Vizact.
