MOD2000: Incorrect Version Number in Mshflxgd.ocx Dependency File (236494)

SYMPTOMS

When you include the Microsoft Horizontal Flexgrid control in your package, the Package and Deployment Wizard displays an "Out-of-Date Dependency Information" alert with the following message:

The wizard found dependency information for the listed files, but the information is out of date. To proceed with the out of date information, click OK.

You see that the file listed is Mshflxgd.ocx, the file for the Horizontal Flexgrid Control.

CAUSE

The version of the Mshflxgd.ocx file that is included with Microsoft Office 2000 Developer is 6.00.8418, whereas its accompanying dependency file states that the version is 6.00.30.05.

RESOLUTION

The version of the Mshflxgd.ocx file that is included with Microsoft Office 2000 Developer is the correct one to include in your solution. Click OK, and then continue in the Package and Deployment Wizard.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a bug in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. On the Add-ins menu, click Package and Deployment Wizard.

  2. In the Package and Deployment Wizard, click Package.
  3. Click Next on each page and accept all the defaults until you see the page that is named Package and Deployment Wizard - Included Files.
  4. Click Add, and then change the Files of type box to All Files(*.*).
  5. Browse to the System folder (or to the System32 folder on Windows NT or Windows 2000).
  6. Click the Mshflxgd.ocx file, and then click Open.
Note that you see the message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
