OFF98: Prompt to Log onto the Internet with America Online (235983)

When you use one of the Office programs, especially Microsoft Word, the following error message may appear:
To run an Internet application via America Online, you must sign on first. To run an Internet application via an ISP/LAN, you must restore your TCP
configuration by clicking the Restore button in the AOL Link panel within
AOL's Preferences dialog.
CAUSE
The error message may appear if you have the AOL Link Enhanced extension turned on.
RESOLUTION
To prevent this error, please do the following: Under Mac OS 7.5 and later versions:- Quit any programs that are currently running.
- On the Apple menu, point to Control Panels and then click Extensions Manager.
- In the list of extensions, clear the check box for AOL Link Enhanced.
- Click Restart.
Under Mac OS versions earlier than 7.5:- Locate any file with the words "AOL Link" in the name within the System Folder, including inside the folders contained within the System Folder.
- Drag items with "AOL Link" in the name out of the System Folder to the Desktop.
- Select Restart from the Special menu.
MORE INFORMATION
Disabling the AOL Link Enhanced extension does not affect your Internet connectivity if you are using AOL's built-in Web browser. However, disabling the AOL Link Enhanced extension does prohibit you from using an external Web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator with AOL.
