Internet Keyboard: Hot keys open second Internet Explorer window (235907)

SYMPTOMS

When you use one of the Microsoft keyboards listed in the "Applies To" section, you may experience the following symptoms when you use the Internet hot keys:
  • You may start a second session of Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 when you press the Web/Home hot key or the Search hot key.
  • When you press the Favorites hot key, the Favorites folder opens in a separate window.
  • When you press the Forward, Back, Stop, or Refresh hot keys, Internet Explorer performs the appropriate action. However, the Internet Explorer window is not restored.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • Internet Explorer is running as a minimized task.
  • You are using Microsoft Windows 2000 as your operating system.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, restore the Internet Explorer window before you press an Internet hot key on your keyboard.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
