SYMPTOMS

Images with may appear broken when you run the FrontPage Editor in stand alone mode.

CAUSE

Frontpage Editor cannot resolve an absolute URL, such as http://server/image.gif, when FrontPage Explorer is not running. FrontPage Explorer handles all of the HTTP information for the FrontPage Editor.

RESOLUTION

Run FrontPage Explorer while you use FrontPage Editor.

FrontPage 2000 has addressed this issue by merging the FrontPage Editor and FrontPage Explorer into one application.
