Links Extreme: Missing Animations or Game Restarts Automatically (234960)

SYMPTOMS

When you play Links Extreme, you may experience either of the following symptoms:
  • When you attempt to start Links Extreme, you may receive the following error message:
    The golfer animation for name is missing. Do you want to choose a different animation?
    If you choose a different animation, you receive the same error message.

  • When you attempt to quit Links Extreme, the program may restart automatically.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you install Links Extreme to the root folder of a hard disk.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, remove Links Extreme, and then reinstall Links Extreme to its default installation folder. To do this:
  1. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Close Program dialog box.
  2. Click Links Extreme, and then click End Task.

    NOTE: If you receive a message stating that the program is busy or not responding, click End Task again.
  3. Click Start, click Shut Down, and then click Restart.
  4. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  5. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  6. Click Links Extreme, and then click Add/Remove.
  7. Follow the instructions on the screen to remove Links Extreme.
  8. Reinstall Links Extreme. When you are prompted to select a destination location, click Next to install Links Extreme to its default installation folder.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Links Extreme.
