The Microsoft Internet Chat (MIC) protocol is no longer supported in the Exchange 2000 Server Chat Service. This is the protocol used by early versions of Microsoft Comic Chat, specifically version 2.0 or earlier. This also applies to the Chat Client OCX, version 1.0, which was included in earlier versions of the Chat Client SDK.

The Exchange 2000 Server Chat Service supports any Internet Relay Chat (IRC) or Internet Relay Chat Protocol (IRCX) compliant client. This includes Microsoft Chat 2.1 and Chat 2.5, which are included in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Internet Explorer 4.x, Internet Explorer 5.
