SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to hot dock or undock an IBM ThinkPad 770 series laptop, you may receive an error message that says the hardware profile cannot be changed. In most cases, the computer's primary IDE controller is listed in the error message as the device that is preventing the computer from being docked or undocked.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you configure both docked and undocked profiles in Microsoft Windows 95, and then you upgrade to Windows 98 or Windows 98 Second Edition.
RESOLUTIONWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
