Can't Use System Recovery With Windows 98 Second Edition Updates (232753)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Microsoft System Recovery utility with the Windows 98 Second Edition Updates CD-ROM, you are unable to do so.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the Windows 98 Second Edition Updates CD-ROM is designed to upgrade Windows 98 and you cannot install it from MS-DOS.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue if you need to restore your computer, use the System Recovery utility on the original Windows 98 CD-ROM to do so, and then upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition.
