SYMPTOMS

When you try to print to your Canon BJC-5000 printer, you may receive one of the following error messages:
LPT Printer Error: Error printing to port lptX
Severe: PnP Hardware ID not found in canon.ini - Installation aborted!

CAUSE

This issue can occur if the Canon printer drivers did not install properly.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, reinstall the printer driver.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this behavior is not caused by a problem in Windows 98, but may be caused by design changes in Windows 98. For more information about resolving this issue, contact the program's manufacturer.
