WD2000: Error in Schdmapi.dll When Accessing Outlook Express Address Book (232461)

SYMPTOMS

If you have Microsoft Outlook Express selected as your default e-mail client, and you attempt to access the Address Book from within Microsoft Word 2000, you may receive the following error message:
WINWORD has caused an invalid page fault in module SCHDMAPI.DLL

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, set Microsoft Outlook as your default e-mail client. To do so, follow these steps:
  1. Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
  2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. On the Programs tab, click Microsoft Outlook in the E-mail box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
