When you try to change your keyboard type by using the Add New Hardware tool in Control Panel, you cannot select the appropriate *.inf file located on the Microsoft Intellitype Pro CD.CAUSE
This behavior is by design.RESOLUTION
To resolve this behavior, follow the appropriate steps.
Microsoft IntelliType Pro 2.2
Change the keyboard type in the IntelliType software. To do this, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and then click Programs.
- Click Microsoft Keyboard, and then click the Key Settings tab.
- Click the text Update, located in the upper right corner of the dialog box.
- In the Keyboard Update Wizard, follow the directions on the screen.

To change your keyboard type, click the Autorun.inf file, click OK, and then follow the instructions that appear on the screen to finish changing your keyboard type.
