FP2000: Editing a FrontPage Themed Document in Another Program May Damage Theme (232299)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q232299

SYMPTOMS

If you have a file with a theme or shared border applied by Microsoft FrontPage, and you open the file in an editor that does not preserve Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), the file may not appear properly when you reopen it in FrontPage.

CAUSE

Not all HTML editors are designed to preserve unknown tags, attributes, or HTML formatting.

WORKAROUND

To prevent this kind of problem, remove the theme or shared border from the page before editing it with a non-FrontPage HTML editor.

If your page has already been damaged by another editor, you must manually restore the FrontPage theme or shared border.
