FP2000: Unable to Install Server Extensions on FrontPage Personal Web Server (232246)

SYMPTOMS

Although you have the FrontPage Personal Web Server installed, you are unable to install the FrontPage 2000 server extensions.

In the Server Extensions Administrator console, the Server Extensions Configuration Wizard does not have the FrontPage Personal Web Server listed as a Web server on your computer.

CAUSE

For the FrontPage Personal Web Server to be properly updated, you must log on to the computer as the same user, when you are prompted to restart the computer during setup.

If you do not log on to the computer as the same user, Setup will not complete.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, log on to the computer as the same user when Setup was originally initiated, and run Setup again.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
