Background Picture Is Not Displayed When You Customize a Folder (230772)

SYMPTOMS

When you click Customize This Folder on the View menu in Windows Explorer and then click "Choose a background picture," the picture may not be displayed when you view the folder's contents.

CAUSE

This problem can occur if the folder is being displayed using the "Classic style" option, which is a feature of the Windows Desktop Update component.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, enable the "Web style" option for folders in Windows Explorer:
  1. On the View menu in Windows Explorer, click Folder Options.
  2. Click Web style.
  3. Click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

If the Windows Desktop Update component is not installed, the "Folder Options" on the View menu is not displayed.
